Sometime ago, we engaged an artisan to do something for us. He did a shoddy job. I regretted engaging him for the job. Immediately, I changed my mind not to use him again. Not out of hatred but because he lacked the expertise needed to execute that job.
Some believers are wondering why their businesses aren't moving. Some artisans are not getting calls to work. They are redundant and asking why they are not being called to work. Some resort to fasting and prayer but they fail to check their delivery.
Evaluate your delivery and ask for honest feedbacks from your client. You'll be shocked at the feedbacks you'll get. It may just be that your expertise is outdated and you need to upgrade. New ideas about that job/ profession is evolving daily.
For instance, those who learnt automobile mechanic in the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s may not be able to fix today's cars and vehicles. Vehicles of that era used contact set and their electronic configuration was not complex. The vehicles of today use injector, sensors and they have a complex electronic configuration.
To be a successful automobile mechanic today, you need to know how to scan vehicles with a scanning device. More like a mini computer. If your expertise is from the old school, you may become irrelevant today. Tailors of old sew styles that reigned in that era. If they don't learn new fashion designs, they'll be without customers.
Ensure you are good at what you do. If it requires going back to learn from a trade master that is in tune with current trends, please do. You must be humble enough to learn new ways of doing what you are doing so that the world won't leave you behind in your profession. Learn, unlearn and relearn.
People are getting more enlightened by the day. No one will give you a job because you are a brother in the church. Competence comes first before any other thing. This is because money is not easy to come by. Nobody want to waste money. Work at being one of the best in your field.
