So much is said about the righteous in the bible. The opening text says the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree.
Have you ever wondered why the Psalmist likened the righteous to a palm tree and not a mango tree or any other tree? This is simply because the palm tree has some unique characteristics and they are:
#1. The Palm tree is an all season tree.
God's desire is for you to grow at all seasons. Your spiritual, financial and mental growth shouldn't be limited to when you are young, in school, or in certain location. It should be at all seasons.
I observed that some Christians stopped growing after they left their campus fellowship. Some stopped growing after marriage. I know sisters who burned for the Lord as singles but not in marriage. The excuse given is tied to domestic stress.
No reason given for staunted spiritual growth is genuine. If those in war zones can grow and burn for the Lord, those at peace have no valid excuse.
What is the secret of the palm tree's all season growth? The palm tree establishes its root to tap nutrients from the soil. Let your root grow deep in the word at all seasons.
Paul says, "Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness" (Colossians 2:7 NLT).
Let your root grow deep in the word of God. Study it daily, attend meetings where the word is taught and practice the word. If you don't make a conscious decision to practice the word, you cannot grow in it.
Be rooted in the place of prayer. Not just some recitations but an expression of your heart before the Lord. This must be daily not occasional. You can add fastings too. I don't know any strong believer who doesn't do these.
In addition, be rooted in fellowship and walking in love.
