DAVID'S VOW

Psalms 101:3 *I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar...*( NLT)

Sometime ago, I blocked a popular skitmaker on my facebook. His skits were lewd, vile and vulgar. He sexualized ladies in almost all his skits. To many, it was entertainment but he was poisoning their souls and grooming them for immorality.

I observed that any time I am on facebook, his skit will come up as I scroll. It was as though I was already getting addicted to his skits. One day, I came to my senses and blocked him totally. Someone need to do that right now.

In today's world, sex appeal has become a bait used by marketers to advertise their products. For instance, I have seen gym equipment adverts laced with sex appeal. They show us the camel toe of ladies, the twistings and whining of waists. Why focus the camera there?

Skitmakers also use it to generate traffic. Almost everywhere you turn on social media, that seems to be what you'll see. Our world is polluted and stained. The darts of immorality is targeted at the soul of everyone, from the pulpit to the pew.

It is sad to say that Satan has infiltrated the church with this vice as well. I have seen praise leaders and back up singers that can stir lust in the hearts of men. Some female preachers are guilty of this.  I have seen greeters in churches with sultry looks lined up at the entrance of the church to welcome and greet people. How are we helping those battling lust?

What is the solution to this? In the opening text, David made a vow saying, "I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar... (Psalm 101:3). It was a conscious decision not to be defiled by the vile and vulgar. That is what we must do.

Today, I want you to know that there are arrows fired at your soul waiting to gain entrance through social media and other means. Make a conscious decision that you will not set your eyes on what is vile and vulgar. Rescue your soul from poison.

If quitting the use of android phone will help your resolve, please do it. Jesus says, "So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell"( Matthew 5:29 NLT).

Avoid the temptation to stay long scrolling your phone. You'll likely be hit by an arrow of immorality.

Action Point:

Father, deliver my soul from vile poisons and arrows. Help me to stay away from whatever the enemy is using to drag me to hell.
