I know a young lady who underwent treatment in a psychiatry hospital. Actually, I referred her to see a psychiatrist because she needed it at that time. As a counselor, I know when to combine faith and medicine and i'm glad I did in her case. They are not contradictory as some think, they are complementary.
Aside other medical problems she had, one thing that contributed/aggravated her mental health deterioration was her lack of contentment. She had her mind set on high things but she was not ready to pay the price for a high life legally.
Her matter became worse was when some prophets told her that her siblings were using her glory to succeed. She picked quarrel with them, hated on them and despised her own blood. Those ones were hardworking and diligent and God blessed them. Though she wasn't doing bad too but she just wasn't contented and diligent to make little grow into big things.
One reason many are trapped in the ungodly rat race of life seeking all avenues for wealth and societal status is lack of contentment. They fail to see the good things God has done or is doing for them. They are never satisfied. Their sights are set on others always living a comparative life.
When your focus is on the attainment of others most of whom you don't know how they made it, you may catch the bug of discontentment.
Lack of contentment is a precursor to desperation and desperation to succeed or make it at all cost leads to crime.
Lack of contentment can cause some health issues in your life. You may overthink till you have high blood pressure. Be grateful for once and trust God to take you high while hardwork remains a constant. Learn to live your life at your own pace, striving to be a better version of yourself not others.
God expect godliness and contentment from you. The discontented man can never be godly because he will get his hands soiled in dirty things yet he fails to realize that true wealth lies on contentment.
1 Timothy 6:6 says, "Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth".
