Severally years ago, I warned a young man to be careful of some persons he listened to. He told me how some of those he listened to made their millions and billions. I was not in doubt about anyone's claim in particular but not all who claimed they made it as told in their stories really made it clean.
Not long after, a young Nigerian billionaire who was 31 years of age was arrested in the U.S. for cyber fraud. He was envied by many people at that time as young and successful. He had platforms where he spoke glowingly about his wealth and he encouraged youths. His personality was enviable but he was a prosperous wicked man.
I once followed a man closely and envied his wealth. He motivated so many campus students in the early 2000s sharing his grass to grace stories. Unknown to most of us, he made his money standing as a front for money laundering whereas he told us a different story.
Today's text is a warning to us all that we should not envy evil people who prosper. They abound around us. No thanks to the internet where we can see in display the wealth of evil men. That they haven't been caught by anti graft agencies doesn't make them innocent.
Common sense alone can help you discern this. How can someone become a billionaire without a verifiable source of income? It happens only here. Someone without a financial track record of income, business and investment rises to become an emergency celebrity. In the true sense of wealth creation, it doesn't happen suddenly. It takes a process that is verifiable.
Nothing should catch your eyes and attention in the wealth of those who do not know God and those who have veered from the path of righteousness. Giving attention to such people is the reason you are disturbed and depressed. You just want to make it and flaunt it.
While some of us desire pure and righteous wealth for kingdom expansion and to live a better life, If your desire for wealth is to be like that celebrity whose shoes, blings, clothes, cars and interior decoration will be on display for people to value and admire, stop disturbing God with your "bless me" prayers. He won't answer. It is Satan that will answer that kind of prayer request.
