I once told the story of a prophet whom I respected so much. He was a prayer machine and heavily anointed. Those days, It was delightsome staying under his ministration.
His church posted him to another state to head one of their branches. He had some issues with the leadership of the church so he led a rebellion by taking the church from the supreme leadership. He severed ties with the national headquarters church, took the church's properties and renamed the church.
Not long after, he took ill, became blind and died. Before he died, he begged for support concerning his health. People had to contribute money to support him but he died.
To rebel is to oppose authority in a bid to wrest or take over leadership forcibly from others. Sometimes, it may not be a forceful takeover but a bitter opposition against leadership that prevents growth of the organization.
Korah, Dathan and Abiram were rebel leaders. They rebelled against Moses and other leaders of the community of Israel. The had a team that supported their rebelion but the wrath of God fell on them and they lost their lives and families.
Numbers 16:31-33( NLT) says, "He had hardly finished speaking the words when the ground suddenly split open beneath them. [32] The earth opened its mouth and swallowed the men, along with their households and all THEIR FOLLOWERS who were standing with them, and everything they owned. [33] So they went down alive into the grave, along with all their belongings. The earth closed over them, and they all vanished from among the people of Israel".
The anger and curse of God is not only on rebels only but upon all their followers.
If you see a pastor breaking away from his parent church under rebellious circumstances, do not team up with him. The consequences of rebellion doesn't affect rebels alone. Their supporters and enablers will also partake in it.
Often, I tell people to resign wherever they are disatisfied instead of creating acrimony and leading an opposition while still there. Where priniciples and ethos do not align, walk away. It is honourable to walk away peacefully without noise and walk out alone than to lead others out.
At work, run from conspiracies against your boss. It is better to resign from a position than to break others away from that place. Do not bring down what someone built over time. If you do, you may never achieve same feat in life.
