I ministered in a large crusade years back. It was quite impossible for me to lay hands on the teaming population so I told all pastors present in the meeting to go into the crowd and lay hands on people. Some people who were under demonic influence began to manifest vigorously but only few pastors got close to them.
After the close of the meeting, I discussed with some pastors in my team. They told me most of those pastors were afraid. I was told they don't like to cast out demons probably for fear of spiritual attack. I still don't know why those in light will be afraid of darkness and demoniacal powers.
Another thing I have observed which has prevented many believers from operating in the miraculous is lack of boldness. They have the power within but when confronted with situations and circumstances where power should be released, they become lily-livered.
I'll rather have you ask for boldness instead of power. The least child of God (If there is anything like that) has enormous potential trapped within to deal with Satan and his minions. He only need to step out boldly. Some have been in Christ for years but haven't healed the sick nor cast out devils.
The most surprising thing is to see preachers with big titles, collar and robes not able to exercise their authority in Christ. Some are only good at teaching things like this but cannot confront the enemy and stamp their authority in Christ.
One thing I do when on the mission field with my team members is to let them know they can cast out devils, pray for the sick and operate in the miraculous. God has used some of them to do things that amazed me. Some didn't know God could wrought great things through them until they stepped out boldly.
Most times, our inability to operate in the supernatural is not caused by power failure but boldness failure.
The early church knew the importance of boldness so they prayed thus: "And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and GIVE US, YOUR SERVANTS, GREAT BOLDNESS in preaching your word. [30] Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus”( Acts 4:29-30).
