THE SPIRIT OF ABSALOM Pt 2

2 Samuel 15:5-6 *When people tried to bow before him, Absalom wouldn’t let them. Instead, he took them by the hand and kissed them. [6] Absalom did this with everyone who came to the king for judgment, and so he stole the hearts of all the people of Israel* ( NLT)

FALSE HUMILITY THAT CAPTURES HEARTS

As we examine the spirit of Absalom, we'll see another Absalomic gimmick employed in staging a rebellion. False humility is a tool. Absalom, the one who projected himself as leader refused the greeting of the people. When they bowed to him, which was the usual way kings were greeted those days, he rejected it and kissed their hands instead. The bible says, "Absalom did this with everyone who came to the king for judgment, and SO HE STOLE THE HEARTS OF ALL THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL". The next thing people will do is to compare David with Absalom. In that case, It is normal for people to prefer the latter than the former. This is the target of those possessing the spirit of Absalom. They have methods of worming their way into the hearts of people so they can be loved. Unwise followers will start the game of comparison. The end goal is to break the fold and form a parallel government. If you're an associate in a ministry, office, organization, you have to be careful about your actions, words and perceived intentions especially those that will make you preferred above your leader. Don't do things that will stoke the fire of comparison between you and your leader. You may be more gifted, sociable and outgoing naturally than your leader. That may draw people towards you naturally. The moment the people start comparing you with your leader and they even go public about it, please dissociate yourself from it. They are bringing you to the place where Absalom was that led to his downfall. As a follower, be a loyal follower. First to God and then to the vision of the set man. If you notice any associate under your senior leader trying to bring you into his rebellion against your most senior leader, gently dissociate. If a pastor breaks the church to start his own and ask you to finance it, don't put your money there. A curse is on any servant who scatters the house of his master. God doesn't bless such. Dear pastor, If you are not an Absalom, do not start a new work close to your former church. As the earth is far from the heavens, go far so you don't take along the hearts of those you have captured. Don't be guilty of stealing sheep.

Action Point:

Father, rid me of all traces of Absalom in my life in Jesus name.
