THE LITTLE I KNOW ABOUT MARRIAGE Pt.2

July 16, 2023 · Lanre Oyeleke · 32 views

Genesis2:18 The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him (NIV).

MARRIAGE IS FOR A PURPOSE

Myles Munroe said that when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. There are couples that entered into marriage without knowing the purpose for which marriage was instituted by God.

They have abused marriage as an institution and they've been abused as well. There is a general purpose for marriage. During wedding ceremonies, you'll hear the Pastor read out some of the purposes for marriage which include: companionship, to avoid immorality&procreation.

However, there's a more specific purpose for which marriage was created which differ from one person to another. Every one on the surface of the earth came to this world for a purpose.

Your purpose is your God-ordained assignment. It is the reason you're alive, your purpose is the reason you've gone through all the dealings( sweet or bitter). Your purpose is the impact God has designed you to make.

When the time to marry comes, God's grand design is to lead you to marry someone whose who will allow you fulfill your assignment here on earth not someone who will destroy it.

Spouse discovery is easy once purpose is discovered. There's nothing as sweet as having a spouse who support and catalyses your journey in life borne out of the understanding of God's purpose for your life.

When we pray for a spouse, what God gives is a purpose mate not a bedmate. If there's anything God guard jealously in our lives, it is our assignment here on earth. God will not lead you to marry a man or woman who will truncate His assignment in your life.

As a child of God, you can't marry indiscriminately. God's kingdom want to profit from our lives. He wouldn't allow his children to marry anyone that would destroy his investment.

If that relationship is not purpose-driven, it might be a waste of precious time.

Action point

If you're married, enquire from God to know whether you are fulfilling His specific purpose. If you're single, settle with God what your life's assignment is.
